Run through waterfalls, peaks, and gorge views
Overview
Welcome to Angel’s Rest — the very first trail race on the legendary slopes of Larch Mountain. After years of waiting, trail runners finally get their chance to explore this rugged, awe-inspiring section of the Columbia River Gorge in true race fashion. This event celebrates waterfalls, forests, and big mountain climbs, all wrapped in the energy of a brand new classic.
The 50K is the crown jewel, carrying you past the thunder of Multnomah Falls, Wahkeena Falls, and countless other cascades before climbing toward the summit of Larch Mountain itself. You’ll experience a raw rebirth of the Gorge as trails weave through the areas that recovered from the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire. With vibrant fall colors, cool October air, and finish-line food that’s worth every mile, Angel’s Rest is an adventure you’ll never forget.
Course
The Angel’s Rest 50K is an epic tour of the Columbia River Gorge. Expect steep climbs, sweeping ridgelines, and a mix of terrain that will keep you honest from start to finish. The course features 65% singletrack, 20% gravel two-track, and 15% pavement. It includes multiple stream crossings, a journey through fire-scarred but beautifully reborn forests, and jaw-dropping vistas of Devil’s Rest, Angel’s Rest, and the mighty Columbia River.
The 50K loops around Larch Mountain and climbs to the top, delivering 6,000ft of both gain and loss, with every climb rewarded by views and waterfall encounters. Runners in the shorter distances still get the magic — the 20 Mile and 10K courses each showcase iconic waterfalls and sections of classic Gorge trail that make this area one of the most beloved landscapes in the Pacific Northwest.
