Overview

Welcome to the Wy’east Wonder, a breathtaking adventure on the flanks of Mt. Hood. This is not just a race, it is a moving postcard of Oregon’s most iconic peak. Runners wind their way across rugged ridges, weaving through alpine forests, and opening up to sweeping vistas of Wy’east that you’ll never forget.

This event brings the community together in the shadow of the mountain with shuttles, cheering crews, and a finish line celebration that includes music, food, and awards. Whether you are running, crewing, volunteering, or spectating, you’ll feel the magic of the mountain and the thrill of Go Beyond’s spirited race vibe.

The Wy’east Wonder follows two stunning ridgelines on Mt. Hood: Gunsight Ridge and Surveyor’s Ridge. Expect alpine meadows, old-growth forest, and wide-open views of the volcano and Cascade Range. The point-to-point layout makes every step feel like a true journey, moving you from high mountain terrain to valleys below. Runners encounter rocky stretches, single-track pine corridors, and fast descents that will light up your quads. The scenery is so gorgeous you may forget you are racing.

Aid Stations

Both the 50M and 50K are fully supported with well-stocked aid stations featuring water, electrolyte drink, fruit, salty snacks, and sweet treats. Some stations are crew-accessible for extra support. Drop bag service is provided at designated aid stations for both distances.

Bib Pickup

Runners may pick up their bib on Friday evening at Solera Brewery or on race morning at Red Barn Park. There is no bib pickup at the start line. A photo ID is required to pick up your bib.

Drop Bags

Runners may drop their bags at designated locations on race morning at Red Barn Park. Drop bags are transported to aid stations along the course. Bags left behind after the race will not be mailed.

Crew & Pacers

Crew and visitors are welcome at designated aid stations and the finish line. Shuttles transport spectators to and from Red Barn Park to the finish. Runners have priority seating on shuttles, so spectators may need to wait for the next one if full. No spectator parking is available at the start or finish.

Swag & Medals

All finishers receive a Wy’east Wonder pint glass. Top three men, women, and non-binary finishers in each distance receive sponsor prizes. Age-group awards are also presented. Every participant is invited to enjoy the post-race celebration with burritos, beer, cider, and music.

Getting There

Portland International Airport is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Parkdale. Bend is about 2.5 hours away by car.

Parking

There is no parking at the start or finish lines. All racers, crew, and visitors must park at Red Barn Park. Parking is available on city streets and in the field next to the park. Volunteers will direct vehicles on race morning. Overnight parking is not permitted in the field.

Lodging

Hotels are available in Hood River and Government Camp. Campgrounds are located nearby, including Toll Bridge Park Campground. Airbnb rentals are also available in the area. There is no camping allowed at Red Barn Park.

Requirements

This is a challenging mountain ultra. Runners should be well-trained for rugged terrain and extended time on their feet. Prior experience in long-distance trail races is recommended to ensure safety and success.

Mandatory Gear

Runners are strongly encouraged to carry their own hydration and gear appropriate for mountain conditions.

The Wy’east Wonder supports local community and environmental stewardship. Proceeds help fund outdoor recreation and conservation initiatives through Go Beyond Racing’s partner organizations.
