Oregon’s ultimate mountain running celebration
Overview
Wy’east Trailfest is more than a race; it is a high-alpine celebration of mountain running, community, and the spirit of Wy’east, the ancestral name for Mt. Hood. On Saturday, adventurous runners will climb high into Oregon’s alpine rooftop on the 50M, 50K, 28K, and 14K courses. On Sunday, the vibe shifts to a welcoming and festive experience with the Half Marathon, 8K, and Kids Race, perfect for family, friends, and those dipping their toes into trail running.
This is a weekend where every runner is celebrated by name at the finish line, every volunteer and crew member is part of the magic, and the mountain itself feels alive with cheers, food, beverages, and finish line festivities. Wy’east Trailfest is a true festival of trail running, with live music, games, sponsors, and the kind of camaraderie you only find in the alpine.
Course
The courses weave through Mt. Hood’s alpine terrain, offering a mix of rugged climbs, sweeping ridgeline singletrack, forested descents, and high-elevation vistas. Expect dynamic weather, rocky trails, and views that make the effort worth every step. Saturday races are the big mountain adventures, climbing as high as 8,000ft, while Sunday races are friendlier and more accessible, winding through meadows and forest with plenty of mountain charm.
Highlights include expansive alpine views, volcanic ridgelines, wildflower meadows, and a finish line celebration at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area:
50M and 50K courses require shuttle rides to the start, adding to the adventure feel of point-to-point alpine racing
