Big Adventure in the Teanaway – one of the Toughest 50Ks in the PNW
Overview
Truth be told, there is nothing ‘teeny’ about this race. While it’s a shorter sibling of the Teanaway Country 100M, the Teeny-Way 50K is a mountain challenge that will test your endurance, your grit, and your love of the trail. You’ll traverse rugged terrain, climb and descend 11,000ft, and be rewarded with stunning views, a remote wilderness experience, and the care of experienced volunteers along the way.
This is not a typical 50K. Expect long stretches between aid stations, off-road jeep access only for support, and the full thrill of Washington’s high mountain country. It’s beautiful, fun, rewarding, and really, really, really hard.
Course
The Teeny-Way 50K winds through wild, rugged Washington mountains. Expect rocky, uneven trails, long steep hills, and long stretches between aid stations. The trail is primarily single track with occasional smoother sections. Weather can vary dramatically from warm days to freezing nights, with potential for rain, snow, wind, or lightning storms. Wildlife encounters, though unlikely, are possible including rattlesnakes, black bears, cougars, and wolves.
Aid stations are spaced roughly 8 to 10.6 miles apart and are fully stocked with water, electrolytes, gels, fruit, sandwiches, and other special treats. They are accessible only by off-road vehicle and are not crew-accessible.
Aid Stations
There are three full-service aid stations stocked with water, assorted gels, Gnarly electrolyte drink, chips, fresh fruit, chocolate, pb & j sandwiches, soda, hot water, and hot soup or broth. Each station also has unique offerings such as quesadillas, bacon, perogies, and sushi rolls. Volunteers are experienced and will keep runners well fueled.
