Overview

By popular demand! The Teanaway Country 50M is an epic and rugged adventure through the Cascade Mountain Range in eastern Washington. Covering 53.7 miles of remote, technical terrain with roughly 16,000 feet of elevation gain, this point to point race is not for the faint of heart. Expect steep climbs, long stretches between aid stations, and trails that demand respect, but reward you with jaw-dropping views and a true wilderness experience.

Runners will traverse pristine single-track trails, alpine ridges, and high mountain passes. This race is wild, remote, and incredibly beautiful. Crew access, aid stations, and a supportive volunteer community ensure that while it is extremely challenging, you are never alone on your journey.

The Teanaway Country 50M traverses rugged, rocky, and technical trails across the Cascade Mountains. Runners will navigate steep ascents, uneven terrain, and long stretches of wilderness far from roads. Expect mountain weather that can change rapidly, including heat, wind, rain, snow, and even lightning storms. Encounters with wildlife such as rattlesnakes, black bears, cougars, and wolves are possible, though unlikely.

The course starts at Salmon La Sac Sno-Park, climbs to Teanaway Ridge, then descends to the Miller-Bear Trailhead finish. Six aid stations are spaced between 6.5 and 46.3 miles. Distances between stations average 8.3 miles, with the longest gap of 10.6 miles. Prepare for 3–4 hours of running between some stations.

Cutoff Details

The only cutoff time for the 50M course is 1:45am on Sunday at Mile 46.3 at Miller Peak Aid Station​

Aid Stations

Aid stations provide water, gels, Gnarly electrolyte drink, chips, fresh fruit, chocolate, pb & j sandwiches, soda, hot water, and hot soup/broth. Each station also features special treats like quesadillas, bacon, perogies, or sushi rolls. Volunteers are experienced and ready to keep runners fueled. Please use drop bags for any special personal items.

Note: Similar to the 50K, any 100-mile runner who makes it out of the final aid station before its cutoff will earn an official finish, even if they cross the finish line after 9:00 PM.

Bib Pickup

Check-in is available Friday evening and race morning. Runners must pick up their bib and race packet at either time.

Drop Bags

Drop bags may be deposited at check-in Friday evening or Saturday morning. Bags not collected at the finish should be retrieved promptly; unclaimed items may be donated.

Crew & Pacers

Crew access is allowed at Iron Peak, Beverly Turnpike, and Miller Peak Aid Stations.

Visitors and crew should carry a Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass. Follow all posted rules and be prepared for uphill or flat walks to aid stations.

Race entry includes a finisher medal, a commemorative t-shirt, and access to the post-race celebration with hot food and beverages.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Seattle, WA. Approximately 2 hours drive to Salmon La Sac Sno Park.

Pangborn Memorial Airport, Wenatchee, WA. Approximately 2 hours drive to Salmon La Sac Sno Park.

From Cle Elum, drive north on Hwy 970, turn onto North Fork Teanaway Rd. Continue 13 miles to the race site.

Runners, crew, and visitors must park in designated areas at aid stations or start/finish. Expect walking uphill or flat depending on aid station.

Requirements

This is a highly technical and remote 50M point-to-point race with 16,000ft of elevation gain. Prior ultramarathon experience is strongly recommended.


Qualifying Races

No mandatory qualifying races, but previous ultramarathon experience is recommended for safety and success.

Trail Work

100-Milers Only

All 100-mile runners must give back to the trails with at least 8 hours of trail work between January 1 and September 14, 2025.

  • What counts: Volunteer work on any trail system, anywhere in the world

  • What doesn’t count: Volunteering at a race does not fulfill this requirement

  • Submit proof by September 16, 2025 via the trail work form (linked below in the app)

Can’t Volunteer?

If you’re unable to complete trail work, you may instead make a minimum $100 donation to a nonprofit focused on trail building, restoration, or conservation.

Mandatory Gear

Runners must carry mandatory gear and be prepared for variable high mountain conditions.
