Run through the heart of Washington’s desert magic!
Overview
The Ancient Lakes Trail Run takes you deep into the heart of Washington’s desert country, where sweeping canyons, hidden waterfalls, and sparkling blue lakes create an otherworldly backdrop. The course winds through basalt cliffs and across open desert plains, with every turn revealing something unforgettable. This is not just a race — it’s an immersive adventure where you’ll feel the magic of running in a place that seems carved from another world.
With multiple distances to choose from, top-notch support, and the signature energy of the Run Super Series, this race offers something for every runner. Whether you’re chasing a buckle in the 50M or soaking in the views during the 10K, you’ll leave with dusty shoes, a big smile, and stories you’ll tell for years.
Course
The Ancient Lakes course is a stunning cloverleaf design centered around a main aid station at the start/finish. Each loop delivers a completely different desert adventure — from a roaring waterfall framed by basalt cliffs, to the quiet shorelines of hidden lakes, to a thrilling drop into the mighty Columbia River Gorge. Expect wide-open skies, rolling terrain, and zero shade — the desert sun here means even a cool day can feel warm.
25K runners complete the red, green, and blue loops in that order. The red loop leads you past waterfalls and dramatic rock outcroppings. The green loop takes you to a serene lake and through winding canyon terrain. The blue loop plunges into the Columbia River Gorge, offering unforgettable riverside miles before a climb back to the finish. Longer distances repeat this sequence for the ultimate test of grit and endurance.
