Run into summer on the solstice
Overview
The Alpine Solstice is all about celebrating long mountain miles on the longest days of the year. With the Cascades as your backdrop and Bend’s iconic singletrack underfoot, this is a race that feels like the official kickoff to trail season.
The brand-new 55K course takes runners past the unforgettable Tumalo Falls, winding through pine forests and open ridgelines with sweeping views of the high Cascade peaks. Whether you’re here for the challenge, the community, or the joy of alpine summer running, Alpine Solstice brings it all together. Expect smooth trails, fully stocked aid, and the kind of stoke that only comes with chasing the sun into summer.
Course
The Alpine Solstice 55K is designed for runners who want a taste of everything Bend has to offer: buttery singletrack, punchy climbs, and a run past the roaring Tumalo Falls that will have you stopping to take it all in. The terrain is 90% singletrack and 10% gravel road, with 4,000ft of gain and loss that keep things honest but runnable.
Expect lush forests, open alpine meadows, and panoramic views of the Cascade volcanoes. The half marathon delivers a shorter but equally scenic adventure on the same legendary trail system.

About Alpine Running

Alpine Running is a trail race organization rooted in the spirit of the Cascade Mountains, offering a collection of rugged, scenic, and soul-filling events across Oregon and Washington. Founded in 2017 by longtime mountain runner and nurse Trevor Hostetler, Alpine Running was born from a deep passion for wild places and the transformative power of endurance running. Since then, it has grown into a close-knit community of runners who value adventure, camaraderie, and purposeful connection to the trails.
At its core, Alpine Running embodies a low-key yet high-quality ethos. Events are marked by personal touches, from meticulously flagged courses to thoughtful safety planning and warm, volunteer-powered aid stations. Whether you’re pushing your limits in a mountain ultra or enjoying the views on a shorter course, every Alpine race is designed to challenge and uplift.
From the Elkhorn Crest 50 to other remote alpine races, Alpine Running events are as much about self-discovery as they are about competition. If you're seeking meaningful mountain miles with an authentic trail family, Alpine Running will welcome you with open arms and wild terrain.
