Oregon's prettiest & best supported 100-Miler
Overview
The Lastest Not Fastest is a last-person-standing style race in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge. This unique endurance event challenges runners to complete a 4.13-mile loop every hour on the hour; run fast and bank rest time, or run steady and hang on as long as possible.
You don’t need speed to win, just grit, strategy, and the determination to keep showing up. With stunning views of the Columbia River and the Oregon side from Hamilton Island, this is as scenic as a backyard ultra gets.
Course
The 4.13M loop course circles Hamilton Island in the Columbia River Gorge. It begins with a stretch alongside the Columbia River, rolls into shaded forest near the Bonneville Dam, and then climbs the course’s one “big hill”—a short 30ft ascent. From there, runners loop around the edge of North Bonneville, cross fields, and return along a trail perched just above the river. The terrain is mostly flat, with only 103ft of gain per loop, making speed management and recovery the real challenges.
Expect sunrise glows over the river, wide-open skies, and plenty of encounters with hikers, fishermen, and locals sharing the trails. Every loop starts together, every hour, on the hour. Miss the cut? You’re out. Keep running until there’s only one.
