Experience Alaska’s wild beauty as you push your limits in this ultimate endurance challenge.
Overview
Join the trail community in Alaska’s rugged backyard for the fourth annual AKtive’s Backyard Ultra, where endurance meets the magic of the midnight sun. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Government Peak Recreation Area at Hatcher Pass, this event is more than a race; it is a test of willpower, camaraderie, and survival one loop at a time.
The course is a 4.167 mile loop weaving through alpine singletrack and ski trails, with about 500 feet of climbing each lap. Expect rolling terrain, a creek crossing, and the thrill of running under endless northern skies. Whether you push for just a few loops or chase 24 hours and beyond, you’ll be cheered on by fellow runners, crews, and the wild spirit of Alaska. With wildlife around, unpredictable weather, and the lure of the bronze ticket, this is a true adventure for runners and supporters alike.
